Update: I recently checked for newer drivers and found some, along with a few for Sony Vaio laptops. Check out the links here
Some searching has come up with the following SigmaTel drivers for Vista:
Please carefully check the computer models and motherboards to insure that you are downloading the proper drivers. Before installing the new drivers you should first uninstall the drivers already on your system, reboot your computer and then install the new drivers.

I have a Fujitsu N6010 using a Sigmatel audio. I found the version was 9750 – it used the STAC97.sys driver. Dell Inspiron 6000 uses the same chip. In order to get it to install in vista I had to alter the STAC97.inf file inside R99254/WDM folder and add this line
“%STAC97.DvDscInt%=STAC97, PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_7012&SUBSYS_12D010CF” at the top of the [Sigmatel] section. It is on the opening page.
I got the PCI|VEN part from Device Manager – navigate to the audio device that isn’t working, double click, select Details, and in the Property drop down select Hardware Id’s. Whatever the Id is you copy it and make it format to the rest of the [Sigmatel] bracket
Hope this helps someone
there is a new 3/27 sigmatel 92xx driver at Intel which is WHQL approved for vista, I am trying to install it on my Dell xps410 vista and it keeps telling me it is not the right driver and aborting the install, is there a way to force it so I can see if and how it works
Audio: Sigmatel* 92XX (7343KB)
6.10.5405
I am having the same issue. I am running an Intel 945PVS Mobo and have had nothing but problems since “upgrading” to Vista.
But by far,the most annoying is this contsant crackle in the sound that comes and goes and seems more prevelant in games.
I was wondering if it was my hard drive but it seems it is this Sigmatel 92XX diver. I also dl’d the newest update it is installed but now my device will not work.
No sound at all.
I look at the device manager there and seems to be no problem. I try to roll back to old driver and got the blue screen of death.
I cannot turn the volume up because it says there is no audio device on my system?
I am usually pretty savy at this sort of thing but am no wizard. HELP!! I wil probably go back to my nice stable XP. And may even consider a MAC. Now only if they would start supporting the gamer and enthusiasts I would be right there.
I updraded my laptop Sony Viao VGN-SZ491N from Vista Business to Vista Ultimate. Now my audio device is not recognized by Vista Ultimate. The audio device is Sigma Tel High Definition Audio CODEC. I downloaded the upgrade but the problem has not been solved. Can someone help?.
Rajiv,
Have you tried installing the generic HD audio codec’s first? Then install the newer SigmaTel Drivers. When I upgraded from Vista RC’s to the full version that is how I went about making sure the drivers got installed correctly. It was just a step that I thought would work and I’ve not had a problem since the upgrade.

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FE670G and did a fresh install of Win XP Pro due to hard drive issues. The laptop has SigmaTel STAC9225 / CXD9872RD/K @ Intel 82801GBM ICH7-M – High Definition Audio Controller [B-0]- PCI. Where can I get the right drivers so I can get XP to know the device even exists? I’m having a hard time finding drivers or the correct ones for this device. Thanks!
Thank you Alan Sanders (post number 4). You solved my problem on a Sony vaio PCG-GRT996VP with Sigmatel C-major audio (STAC 9750)!!!! A million thanks!!!!
I have a Systemax Venture HU2 B840 TRS PC. I have an Inel motherboard, 945G Chipset family (whatever that means). My audio device was working (sounded distorted). I updated the driver for Sigma Tel High Definition Audio CODEC and the sound didn’t work at all. I rolled the driver back, but the sound still doesn’t work. I have been reading some previous posts and there was one that sounds like it may solve my problem, but I don’t quite understand how to do it.

Could someone help me figure out how to do this? (I’m not totally computer illiterate, but I don’t want to mess my computer up any more than it already is
Thanks!!

I was having problems with my Intel 965LT motherboard with the hardware. It was Sigma Tel and I couldn’t figure out why my microphone and speech recognition would not work, I tried a lot of different drivers and finally ran across the 92XX and it is working terrific now, can’t complain at all, I don’t even have to type in e-mail anymore, I run my own a small business and use Microsoft word 2003 quite a bit and this comes in handy, plus solved all my audio issues.
please tell me how can play songs from sigmatell because there no optionss stereo mixx like that option in other system no in window vista sigmatell audio card
I have upgraded to Vista Ultimate on my Dell M1210. Tried getting driver from Dell website, and it installed the software, but giving me a yellow conflict sign next to the device SigmaTel. Anybody know how to get rid of it? I need my sound badly.
Is there a SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC Driver for Vista Business available for Sony Vaio VGN-SZ110? Please let me know the link. Thanks
Google using “sony Vaio VGN-SZ110 SigmaTel” and you will probably find something.

It took me so long to find this information. I have been looking all over the internet for an answer. I am far from proficient w/computers. Once I read this, it took me less than 10 minutes and I am a slow reader.
I just have an emachine Windows Vist Home Basic w/ an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950, if that helps anybody.
Oh, yesterday..I called the number from the alteclansing website. I was told that I needed a new sound card since I wasn’t getting sound through my head phones. I am so grateful for your post. Now I can blast gospel throughout my neighborhood!
I thank you very much. Vista has given me nothing but trouble. It is beyond by far the worst operating system I have ever used. I got a cheap upgrade to ultimate through my school, tried it out, and it messed up a ton of stuff that was working just fine before (in the home premium). If people would just start developing video games for linux, I could get rid of windows for good.
Sorry about the rant. I appreciate your post.
I need help in the worst way.
Can someone please put step by step instructions on how to change the driver on the sigma tel high definition audio codec updated driver for vista home premium?
I am a computer idiot and I have been at this for 5 hours with no success. I made the stupid mistake of upgrading from Vista basic to Premium today and well here I am.
PLEASE- Explain it like I am a five year old because when it comes to this stuff I am. Leave not one step out.
Thank you in advance-I will be eternally in your debt.
Tom
I’ve bought an Intel D975BX mobo from a friend but, installed a hard drive with Vista already installed on it, I know some say nooo but hey I never had problems with XP. I keep reading the Same problem with VISTA HOME PREMIUM 32, the mixer is NOT avaialable. I was able to find the mic settings and am able to use th mic now with +30 setting but I do not get to see the MIXER, just the mic front and rear and the line in. It is not finnished, INTEL or MICROSOFT
I did a Vista Premium to XP Home rollback on my Gateway MT6460 lappy. No sound, thought I would search until the moon turned blue for the correct Sigma Tel driver. Setup was a snap.
I HAVE SOUND!!!
Thank you!!!!
